TSPROF Bronze Lapping Bar

The TSPROF Bronze Lapping Plate is designed for refining a knife edge using diamond compounds. The plate itself is not abrasive and works only when paired with a compound. It minimizes the risk of scratching and allows you to achieve an ultra-fine finish during sharpening.

Recommendations for Use:

Before use, apply the compound evenly across the plate surface. It is not recommended to use one plate with different compounds — abrasive particles become embedded into the bronze, and changing compounds may cause unwanted scratches.

If contaminated, the surface can be cleaned with a damp cloth. During use, the compound becomes embedded into the blank surface and remains there, so each blank should be dedicated to a single compound type.

The plate is much softer than the steel of the blade. Its surface can be damaged easily, especially near the knife tip. The plate may be used in both directions and should operate under its own weight without additional pressure on the guide rod.

Care and Storage:

Store the plate separately from other abrasives, protecting the working surface from damage and aggressive substances such as strong acids, alkalis, and seawater.

If necessary, the geometry can be restored on a lapping plate using the same compound that was used during operation. The use of coarse compounds is not allowed, as it may leave scratches on the surface.
