Paddle honing strop is used for manual finishing of the cutting edge.

A hand-polishing compound (usually green for different companies) is applied to the suede side. Work either without any compound on the smooth side of the skin, or using a finishing one (white). Working with a paddle strop can bring the knife to razor sharpness.

Be carefulΒ not to spoil the cutting edge by turning it to a convex grind. The knife will shave, but it will not cut very well.
